A paragraph describing the group

Dirk Schadendorf is Professor of Dermatology at the German Cancer Research Centre and Head of the Skin Cancer Unit at the Department of the German Cancer Research Centre associated with the University Hospital Mannheim, University of Heidelberg Medical School. His group has focused on the development of novel treatment approaches for malignant melanoma including vaccination strategies, drug resistance and outcome prediction.

Translational aspects and a short communication route between lab bench and clinic are a hallmark of his group’s efforts. He is steering board member of the EORTC melanoma group as well as Vice-president of the Skin Cancer Group (DeCOG) of the German Cancer Society. He has already participated in the IV Framework as member of a Biomed II concerted action, EUCAPS (CT98-3058), and the V Framework coordinating OISTER (QLRT-CT-2002-00668) as well as VI Framework projects ENACT (LSHC-CT-2004-503306) and CANCERIMMUNOTHERAPY (LSH-CT-2005-518234).
