A paragraph describing the group
The Scottish Melanoma Group collects data on all new cases of melanoma in Scotland (pop: 5 million) and has done so since 1979. Currently over 10,000 cases of invasive melanoma are on this database with details of pathological features, treatment and follow up.
The West of Scotland section of the group (pop: 2.6million) has an interest in the genetics of melanoma and collects DNA from all identified cases of familial melanoma and their families. We also collect DNA from sporadic melanoma cases presenting in the past 5 years, and have a small DNA bank from phenotyped non melanoma control subjects. |
